Visited my BIL’s blog and realized I hadn’t posted one myself in quite a long time. OK, over a year. With all of the other ways to let the world know what I’ve been up to, it’s pretty easy to do! Facebook, Twitter, Myspace… Good Gravy! Plus I have pictures strewn everywhere on the web. Might be time to bring it all into one tidy place.
It’s getting down to the wire! 34 weeks! My poor wife is so uncomfortable, I don’t know what to do. Beyond the gestational diabeties, her belly itches to bad she can hardly stand it! We’re going to visit the doctor again soon and we may induce early – :) Last we heard, at week 36. Let’s see, that’s TWO WEEKS FROM NOW!!! AHHHH!!!!
The excitement builds! I can’t wait! It’s going to be awesome! I hope we have everything we need. I have the daunting task of installing the car seat – hopefully it’s not as bad as everyone makes it out to be.
All this news along with the fact that our furnace was red tragged after our maintenance checkup. Not good. The flue (sp) was pusing out 3000 Parts Per Million (PPM) of CO2. The limit is supposed to be 100 PPM. Good thing nothing bad happenned in the meantime. That’s being installed today as I work from home. Tons of fun. Turns out our installer was in Rhino for a quick stint (long story) and he’s from New Ulm! Start singing “it’s a small world” and suffer.
1 year later and she still likes me! We had an awesome dinner. We were planning on venturing to Fogo De Chao without reservations. Well, that was a blunder – or so we thought – at the time. Seemed like the trendy place to go – a Brazilian Steak House. You have a little disc on your table. You want meat, you turn it over to the green side. You’ve had enough – turn it to the red side. They keep serving until you flip it over. Sounded pretty neat! Well, apparently it was “THE” trendy place to go and we were overdressed it seemed. Lots of mid-20’s running around, flip-flops, shorts, we were dressed pretty well! We swung outside after we realized we wouldn’t get a table until well after 10pm (it was 8:30 at the time and baby was hungry!). We hummed and hawed about it then walked around the corner – Viola! Murry’s! “Silver Butterknife Steak”. Sounded like a plan to me. Beth tried to Near-Wine – not so good. I had some real wine. Very good. A chardonnay from a winery named Heath. Wow – that was good (and strong – my cheeks were rosey!). We started with some seared Ahi Tuna with Wasabi and soy sauce. FABULOUS! Only 3 little pieces but WOW! Then the steak came out. It was a roast. They cut it up right next to you, straight from the kitchen. I’ve never had better. It was fantastic. We finished it off with some Crème brûlée. My goodness. That was awesome too!
We finished the night heading over to the MN Music Cafe – The Good, The Bad, and the Funky were playing – my neighbor Ronny plays in that group – saxaphone – not bad – no smoking, but super hot and no place to sit. We stuck around for about a set and called it a night.
Only 10 weeks to go. We found out B has gestational diabetes last week, so we’ve been trying to take that challenge on. Her BG (Blood Glucose) is dropping, but probably not as fast as they like. She’s on a pill, not insulin, for now. Hopefully that doesn’t change. So we’re thinking the baby’s probably going to pop out a little early, like late November, early December. What an Xmas present!
Had the weekend off from the band. Not the worst thing – back into it hard and strong starting next weekend.
I have a new video of Norm doing his tricks:
Other than that, all is well. Some medical problems going on with my Dad’s side of the family (Linda had a small heart attack and Dale has cancer – both doing pretty well though) and Grandma Stueber had a stroke too. I really need to visit them, for my sake more than anything. And my Mom’s. I’d LOVE to show Grandpa the pics from the Maldives. I guess he gets all whipped up when he finds that out.
I’ll start off by noting that the Baby-ticker page has been updated with B’s every expanding belly! CUTE, CUTE, CUTE!!!
Very exciting time! Less than 3 months away from the arrival of the newest Wurtzberger! We have the crib, dresser, bassinet, and some clothes – and diapers. For some reason Beth seems to think the stores will run out after we give birth. Or she’s stocking up. ;) It’s probably a good idea, I’m sure the costs will come raining in once the little peanut is here. Uncle Bob Berger wants to know how the little nephew is doing… I think he’ll be disappointed. Read the rest of this entry »
It’s almost been a month since our trip to South Dakota. I suppose I should post some pics. Since I’m also lazy (and find the upload feature in this blog engine a little cumbersome), I posted them all at the Wurtzberger domain using a photo tool.
We started off driving to New Ulm, back to the farm, to drop off Normie. Thought he could use some exercise for a few days. I don’t think he was much of a problem for my folks. There was the cat incident, however… We started off on a Saturday morning, Read the rest of this entry »
Ok, I’ve been slacking at blogging… what can I say? it’s been 17 days? Hmmm. I due to put some pics out here, aren’t I?
Well, next discussion should be our quick trip out to South Dakota (excellent time!), some baby updates, and probably some new pics of Beth in all her round glory! ;) The nursery also got a shelf and a closet door. It’s startin to shape up! Grandma Sandy bought a cute little hutch for piglet too.
We’re finally getting some rain. Probably too little too late for my folks, but it’s something. I mowed for the first time in forever before I left for our trip, then had to mow the lawn again last weekend. That’s enough now! I’ll probably post more tonight.
Beth and I had planned on going to the 49th state added to the union. In an RV. Then we thought she might be a little too round for that. Probably wouldn’t enjoy it a whole lot with swollen feet and a round belly in the middle of the wilderness and tundra. So we canceled the one week vacation and have decided to go to the “Great Faces. Great Places.” state instead. We’re going to leave on Saturday morning, drop the doggy off at Grandma and Grandpa Wurtzberger’s house. I do hope he’s not too much trouble. I guess Bob and Mel are going to drop off Otis there when they vamoose to S. Carolina. Good experience, right?
At any rate, we’ll probably take MN 15 S. to MN 60 West to I-90 and keep on trucking. I guess the Stugis bike rally is still going on, we could poke our heads in there and see what the hub-bub is about. I’m probably too much of a city-slicker now to even come close to “fitting in” but you never know. We’re planning on hitting Deadwood, Badlands, Reptile Garden, Maybe the Needles Highway… all very possibly cool things to do. I know I did this when I was 4 or 5 with Polly and Joe Schmitz (my aunt and uncle – Mom’s sister), but don’t remember much else about that trip. I know I was there though!
And of course, we’ll see the faces! Definitely some updates coming after our trip – possibly during if our Hotel has Wi-Fi… it is SD…
Halfway there! Beth and I had our 20 week ultrasound today! Apparently, the little person is particular to the lower part of Beth’s uterus and liked being curled up in a ball, feet above the head, playing with them! How cute! The ultrasound tech also thought it was cute, but wanted to get some good pics to make sure everything was progressing well. Even with a full bladder, s/he didn’t want to leave the lower part and made it a difficult picture day! All in all, baby ‘Berger is in the 50th percentile in all the major measurements. Head size, leg length, stomach, and one other thing (so many views!). Two kidneys, stomach with fluid in it (can swallow), intestines on the inside, no cleft lip, no overly large fat spot on the back of the neck, good, flexible spine, 10 toes, 10 fingers, proportionately growing appendages, and a little bitty… nothing.
We asked the tech to write down the sex of the baby and put it in an envelope so if we change our minds, we can find out. Well, because it’s bottom was so far down the deepest reaches of it’s current home, I don’t think she found out. Beth claims she saw “nothing” from a quick turn and a “bottoms up” view and is convinced it’s a girl. I saw nothing conclusive, so she could be right. Do I care either way? No. Would I prefer a boy? Of course! I’m a guy!
It was awesome watching our little wonder play inside of Beth. The tech even tapped her tummy in an attempt to move it around into a better viewing area. All in all, we did get some good pictures including the one above.
I better note: in all the pictures, it’s head is on the left, looking up!
How long ago did we fix up the old office and turn it into the nursery? When did I yank the old garden fence out and try seeding? One month? May have been two. Well, progress has been made and the garage is finally cleaned out:

Amazingly, most of the stuff I wanted to ditch fit into the TUB. It didn’t cost too much either ($120) and they haul it away. I’ve had a couple of neighbors ask me about it and how much it holds, etc. The best thing: I have the back of the garage back! I didn’t realize how much space that crap was taking up! NICE!
